Reply regarding Hope not Hate Leaflet

In the run-up to the May elections, residents of East Goscote Ward received a distasteful leaflet impugning the BNP candidate, Cathy Duffy. Cathy duly complained about this, and received the following reply:-

Complaint from Cllr Catherine Duffy
RE the Hope not Hate campaign leaflet

"I understand that the complaint was made by Cllr Duffy regarding a leaflet and a letter which was sent to a Ms Pizer but not Cllr Duffy.

Having examined the items, my advice is that no illegal practices /offences or breach of rules have occurred as a result of the publication and circulation of the Hope not Hate leaflet. That advice is base on the following research:

Representation of the Peoples Act 1983

Sections 106 and 110 of the RPA 1983 are the appropriate sections of the act dealing with circumstances where election material contains false statements about a candidate and the prescribe rules relating to the publication of election material designed to promote candidates.
s106 – creates an offence if a person makes untrue statements about the conduct or character of a candidate for office in the elections. The Hope not Hate leaflet is not published by or on behalf of a political party standing in opposition to a candidate but by a campaign/lobby group with no political allegiance. It does not mention Cllr Duffy by name nor does it make any statements which could be said to be about her character or conduct specifically. In my view is not about Cllr Duffy but what Hope not Hate considers the BNP stands for generally. In terms of s106 therefore since it does not mention her by name nor say anything that could be said to be a statement about her character or conduct no offence has been committed under Section 106. This section refers to false statements concerning a candidate’s character or conduct and seek to protect candidates from being the subject of such statements. It does not confer any such protection on a party of which a candidate may be a member. My view is that s106 does not apply to the Hope not Hate leaflet.

In terms of s110 this focuses on publicity material designed to promote a candidate with a view to procuring their election. It sets out the prescribed information that all such material must contain. The Hope not Hate leaflet does not seek to promote any candidate at all and therefore in my view does not appear to be covered by s110.

I cannot see that there is any breach of any rules or any offence committed by those who have circulated this Hope not Hate leaflet."

Cllr. Duffy's complaint was made on behalf of ladies in her ward, as they were particularly targeted; some informed Cllr. Duffy as the targetting made them feel vulnerable and upset, while others contacted Hope not Hate directly (telephone & e-mail) to express their disgust.

The result of this particular leafletting did not have the desired effect, and must have left a sour taste in the mouths of Hate not Hope. Due to this hate mail, and because the residents know and admire her, Cllr. Duffy received an increased vote and was returned to the seat.

Never underestimate the sympathy of the sisterhood!

BNP Unveils Its 2010 Campaign Issues: Afghanistan, Immigration and the Global Warming Conspiracy

The British National Party will campaign in the 2010 general election on the issues of withdrawal from Afghanistan, a halt to the immigration invasion and an end to the ‘Global Warming’ conspiracy, party leader Nick Griffin MEP has announced.

“We are proud to map out three central and core policy issues which clearly differentiate us from every other political party in Britain,” Mr Griffin said.

“Every other party, Lib Dems and UKIP included, have announced their support for continued British military presence in Afghanistan.

“Only the BNP is unequivocally opposed to this war and demands that all British troops be withdrawn immediately.

“This must be done straightaway, right now,” Mr Griffin said.

“There is not a single grain of Afghan sand that is worth the blood of a British soldier.

“It is a tragic and criminal waste of our young people’s lives and out tax money to even be there, never mind the legal issues involved which indicate that the war itself is illegal,” he said.

The BNP’s position on immigration was also well known, Mr Griffin continued.

“Once again, only the BNP has mapped out policies and solutions to the immigration invasion which are perfectly in line with voter concerns,” he continued.

“All the other parties are in favour of immigration, either through the fake ‘points-based’ nonsense, a ‘balanced migration’ con trick or some other subterfuge.

“Only the BNP demands an end to mass Third World immigration and the implementation of policies which will not only halt this colonisation of our nation by the Third World, but will indeed reverse it as well.”

The third main plank of the BNP’s campaign will be a focus on opposing and exposing the ‘man-made global warming’ conspiracy, Mr Griffin said.

“We will make voters aware that this now totally debunked theory is being used to systematically de-industrialise what is left of the British manufacturing industry and pay over billions to build up and modernise the industries of India and China,” he said.

“The global warming fraud is being used as an excuse to pile stealth taxes and undemocratic controls on the already long-suffering public.

“For example, the taxes mean an extra £18 billion on electricity bills alone,” Mr Griffin said.

“These are the issues about which voters are concerned and on which we will campaign,” Mr Griffin said, adding that the BNP’s opponents never tried to debate policy and instead resorted to attempted character assassination and baseless smears.

“The BNP will however campaign on our policies and we are confident that the voters will make their choices on that basis. The British National Party is the only party which has a coherent, logical and just policy programme which will rescue our great nation,” he concluded.

* The BNP’s manifesto is currently being finalised and will focus heavily on the economy and the need to rebuild Britain’s manufacturing industry which is the only way that real jobs and lasting prosperity can be guaranteed.

* The BBC has created a party policy comparison tool on its website which is surprisingly unbiased and gives a nearly accurate reflection of the BNP’s position on most major issues of the day.

Another fantastic turn out.

Today saw our leafleting team muster more than 16 activists. We all met at the local superstore in Glenfield at 9.30 and started putting out the leaflets shortly afterwards. Local Organiser Kevan Stafford and super-activist Peter Jarvis had all the maps and leaflets ready. We all had our own areas and when finished we met for a coffee. A combined 4000 leaflets were posted and all activists reported a great response from the local people, and even some prospective new members where found. Local residents were asking about joining and we let them have the details .

A grand day out !

Raising funds for the BNP is not easy; Many BNP members are those who lose their jobs first when corporate finance looks for cheap labour, making donations takes courage. Simple ideas are best.
Steve Denham`s idea of a sponsored walk was simple to organise. Kevan Stafford our local Coordinator soon designed and printed some sponsorship forms with his usual speed and professionalism.
Steve suggested Rutland Walk for the venue, and the car park for the meeting point.
There was just five weeks to gather sponsors and iron out the details before the big day. We soon gathered sponsors and many people were keen to help both collecting sponsors, and on the day at Rutland Water.
The big day finally arrived, 12th December. Steve drove to the starting point without any problems. Chris And Kevan could not find the right car park, "thank God for mobile phones" was one of the comments when we all finally did meet up at the car park.
4 members, 6 views, and a large collection of alternative routes - but we all set off regardless. Steve Denham led the way with Pete Jarvis struggling to keep up the pace. Steve only stopped for one cup of tea as he had an appointment later that day and time was passing by. Both Steve and Pete managed the peninsular only because they both took the wrong turning! 24 miles later Steve and Pete both finished, Steve even looked as fresh as when he had first started. Both Kevan and Chris finished about an hour later. It was a fun day and one couple who saw Steve start actually stopped and clapped as he finished.
Over £1000 pounds raised for the party and four members just that little bit fitter. A loosely organised event with little outlay turned into a good fund raising day. Charnwood has two deposits for the General Election now. Thank you to all who donated and helped to make the day possible. A good Days work in Birstall

The morning start was 9 30 and we were to meet at the services, "Another great turn out by local activists"Kevan Stafford was heard to say.
We picked up our candidate leaflets and set off on our routes.
Many people today were out and about and lots of positive response from the public. It was noted that the local conservatives had Failed to deliver in Birstall and at a cost of nearly £8000 pounds.(Just think of all the good that could be done with that.)
We met for dinner at the local services as we thought it only right to support local trade.
There was a couple of people today who wanted to know why the election was called a year early so I explained the Conservative councillor had abandoned his seat a year early and thus costing the local tax payers about £8000 pounds for an election. Then there would be yet another election costing the same again next year . They were disgusted and we were told of there pending support at the polling booth. We finished early today putting out just short of 3000 leaflets. so well done all involved .

BNP Cares for World War II Hero in East Midlands

Snowbound George, an ex Royal Naval war hero, was set to celebrate his 90th birthday with nothing more than a half empty tub of margarine in his freezer, reports East Midlands British National Party press officer John Ryde.

“However, George is a member of the British National Party and was called by the BNP call centre, as they are doing for all of our elderly members, to see if he was alright during the present winter weather,” Mr Ryde said.

“When they heard of his plight, the call centre immediately contacted East Midlands regional organiser Geoff Dickens who set the wheels in motion to bring food and company to George.

“Activist Peter Cheeseman found out what was needed on the shopping list and collected it from a nearby supermarket and took it round for George — and included a few luxuries.

“George asked how much he had to pay, but Pete said ‘Happy Birthday, this is on me, from one member to another.’

“The British National Party is more than a political party and it practises what it preaches. We have to thank all those caring people within the party who are making this an event right across snowbound Britain,” Mr Ryde said.

Dedication by local activists

British National Party activists from Leicester braved the snow on a cold Saturday morning to meet at the local services. They braved the local foot paths and drive ways in Birstall and combined put out over 2000 leaflets. Arriving later the truth truck toured Birstall and Charnwood where it was warmly received by the local residents. Local organiser Kevan Stafford commented that with the dedication that the party and members have makes us stand apart from the other parties.

Labour MP David Taylor dies at 63

David Taylor had been MP for North West Leicestershire since 1997 and planned to retire at next election

David Taylor, the hard-working leftwing Labour MP and one of parliament's polymaths, had died from a heart attack.

The 63-year-old was walking with his family at Calke Abbey, in Derbyshire, on Boxing Day when he was struck down. Staff at Queens hospital, in Burton on Trent, were unable to revive him.

Taylor had said he would retire at the next election, citing the scale of the modern MP's workload as one reason. He had been MP for North West Leicestershire since 1997.

In a sign of his popularity he had been voted Commons Backbencher of the Year in the annual awards organised by Sky TV and The House magazine and decided by a ballot of all 646 MPs. It was a remarkable tribute given that his membership of the Socialist Campaign group of MPs put him well outside the mainstream of Westminster politics. The citation read: "An indefatigable campaigner, constant attender and independent–minded."

Gordon Brown paid tribute, saying: "David has been a strong campaigner and when I visited his constituency a few weeks ago I found enormous respect and admiration for what he has achieved."

Labour will try to follow precedent by refusing to hold a byelection they would be likely to lose, citing the imminence of the general election. By tradition a seat can be kept vacant for as long as six months.

Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel
and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate
number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will
already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a
card with these details, then please contact ICSTIS (the premium rate

of her forthcoming surgery dates. Husband 

Maurice, is very much part of her campaign 

team and he was on hand to help deliver the  

leaflets and take the photographs.

While doing the rounds, Cathy was  

stopped by a gentleman (above, right)  

who had just been made redundant 

and he had a number of questions about 

what the BNP 's policies were to get 

people back into work.

"He went away reasonably happy with 

what I told him and I said I would get a 

BNP information pack sent to him. Over 

the last few months people that you meet 

are becoming more and more interested 

in politics. I think that they are beginning 

to realise that it's time to make their voice 

heard," she told me.

Dishley and Hathern by-election, 23rd October 2008

Following the resignation of Labour Councillor Sharon Williams on 8^th September 2008, a by-election to select a replacement councillor was arranged by Charnwood Borough

Council for Thursday 23^rd October. Mrs Williams had gained her seat in the full borough elections in May 2007, when the party shares achieved were: Labour 44.7%,

Conservatives 38.8%, and BNP 16.5%.

The party votes in the Dishley & Hathern by-election held on 23rd October 2008 were:

Labour 838 49.7%

Conservative 490 29.1%

BNP 234 13.9%

Lib Dem 107 6.4%

Other 16 0.9%

Comparing the May 2007 full election with the present by-election, the shares of the vote of the three leading parties show that the Labour share increased 5%, the BNP share

decreased 2.6%, while the Conservative share fell by a substantial 9.7%. The weak

Liberal Democrat result reveals them as a Labour Party clone offering no new solutions to the problems we face here in Charnwood.

This result counters the national trend of diminishing support for Labour, but the reason may lie in the demographics of Dishley and Hathern. The ward is “enriched” by a substantial 16.7% proportion of voters of foreign origin, mainly East European and South Asian, who might be expected to support Labour politicians because they are the chief facilitators of mass immigration into Britain. The proportion of foreign named voters in Hathern is only 3.1%, but the majority of villagers are likely to hold traditional conservative views and support the Conservatives. Conversely, in the Barsby Drive and Braddon Road area of Dishley the proportion of foreign named voters is a formidable 26.5%, a block vote which Labour could be relied upon to target for support.

These demographics also help explain the shortage of homes for our young people and the determination of local Labour, Conservatives and Lib Dems to concrete over Leicestershire’s attractive countryside for 19,000 additional houses by 2026, along with associated retail, industrial, educational and medical facilities. Notwithstanding that Britain is now the most densely populated country in Europe, with double the density of Italy, the Labour government, supported by the Conservatives and the Lib Dems, plans to impose another 3 million houses on green belt land by 2020. The Charity Optimum Population Trust states that Britain’s maximum sustainable population is 30 million, not the existing and increasing 61 million.

It was satisfying to achieve more than twice as many votes as the Liberal Democrats and to firmly retain third place. By-Election called for Dishley and Hathern...

Following the resignation of Labour Party Councillor Sharon Williams, who represented the Loughborough Ward of Dishley and Hathern, a by-election has now been called to be held on 23rd October, 2008.

 

The British National Party currently has one elected Borough Councillor on Charnwood Borough Council, Cathy Duffy,  who represents the village of East Goscote. All our Councillors, Parish and Borough, work extremely hard and have attended all their meetings.

 

 Should we win this by-election, this would give the British National Party a chance to make a difference for the people across Charnwood. Having two Councillors on Charnwood Borough Council would give us the opportunity to put forward motions which could be seconded!

Record sponsorship for European election fund.

A record £4,065 in sponsorship was raised by Maurice Collett, Mathew Sleath and Nigel Podam towards the cost of standing candidates in next June’s European elections. The intrepid trio cycled 100 miles from Leicestershire to Skegness in a sponsored bike ride. Below is a photograph of Maurice revealing the figure at last Saturdays North West Leicestershire Social.

 Thursday was the day of the long awaited Melton Egerton Bi-Election.

 

Following a full campaign put in by the BNP, and a full campaign from Labour, who as usual dedicated themselves to trying to smear the British National Party, the results are as follows:

A man, who it is claimed has access to the personal details of thousands of Charnwood residents via a computer hard drive he bought on eBay, has been urged to return the sensitive data. A major investigation has been launched by Charnwood Borough Council after a national newspaper claimed that the Edinburgh man bought the former council owned hard drive for just £6.99. The information included thousands of residents' bank account numbers, sort codes, names and addresses - enough information say experts to access credit cards and cheque books. That was an article in the Loughborough Echo today. So all your personnel information including YOUR bank details were sold for just £6.99 on Ebay. Beware of the cat flap burglars

YOU'VE heard of cat burglars - now police are warning residents in and around Loughborough that cat flap burglars are on the prowl.

Homeowners are being urged to make sure burglars cannot get hold of house and car keys through the cat flap, following two recent incidents in the area.

The first happened on August 13, at 5am in Loughborough, when the homeowner disturbed a man trying to reach her door keys through the cat flap. He escaped empty handed.

And at 7am on August 14, police received reports of a house burglary in Quorn, again with a cat flap connection.

The burglar had taken the key out of the inside of the back door by putting his arm though the flap, and used the key to unlock the back door and get into the house.

A flat screen television, laptop computer and a handbag containing bank cards were stolen.

Insp Cathy Yallop, commander of Charnwood local policing unit, said: "Although there is no evidential link between these two incidents, cat flap burglaries are quite rare and to have two in two nights is unusual, so we want to remind homeowners to make sure that their house or car keys are not within easy reach of the cat flap.

"It's best not to keep keys in the lock, store them away from doors in a safe place such as drawer where they cannot be seen."

NASTY COMMENTS IN MY NAME!!!

If some of you read the "Lancaster UAF" website, you may have seen a post on there about Eddy Butler. If you read the comments, there is one left by "me" (Gavin Charnwood BNP secretary). These posts are NOT mine, and if you see any further posts on any site from "me" please do not hold me responsible for the content of them. I have a rough idea who is doing this, and the situation is being monitered closely!

Hopefully there will be no more of these comments in the future.

RED WHITE AND BLUE A GREAT SUCCESS!!!!

As some of you may be aware last weekend was the Red, White and Blue, and despite demonstrations from the far left who tried to stop many people getting to the event, it was still a great success!

'Charnwood' British National Party ran a stall selling sweets along with a balloon race and a wine bottle lucky dip - all of which went down really well. A special thanks to everyone who made the Charnwood stall a great success, especially Maurice for 'bringing in' many of the customers. Overall a great weekend!!

Next year will be the 10th Red, White and Blue and the Charnwood stall will be even bigger and better than ever! This year the East Midlands as a whole was awarded Second Best Regional Stall.

Army Presentation...

On Thursday, 17th July, 2008, I was delighted to have been formally invited by Brigadier J.E.Richardson MBE (Late R Signals) and Commander 49 (East) Brigade, to attend a Reception and Briefing by the Army Presentation Team at Welbeck, The Defence Sixth Form College in Loughborough.

Accompanied by Maurice and Carol Collett, we were given a presentation and update on the recent changes within the Army.

The Army takes it's responsibilities as a public service seriously and the Presentation Team seek to promote awareness and understanding of how the Regular and Territorial Army operate and how it interacts with other sections of society.

The evening started with a drinks reception and continued with the main presentation. This was followed by an opportunity to ask questions in an open forum to the Team and a number of local Army representatives from our local area.

The evening concluded with a finger buffet and an opportunity to chat to any of the military personnel present.

The evening was attended by many influential leaders in the local community and was thoroughly enjoyable and informative too!

The men and women of our Armed Services deserve our whole-hearted support no matter what is asked of them.
